Thankful Thursday

Scooter Man helps dissect the ailing iMac.

We’ve been served a major wallop with our computers and electronics recently. About two weeks ago, while I was working on putting together a video for my hunt for a worship pastor position, my external hard drive crashed. This is the drive for all of our family videos. Oops. There went one weekend. Then we discovered that our high school daughter’s refurbished system wasn’t compatible with some software that she needed, even after upgrading her memory. Ugh. Finally, the internal hard drive crashed on our main desktop system. You know, the one my bride uses to educate  our four children? Yes, just in time for the first week of school.

Guess what this week’s homeschooling lesson is about? Computer guts!

So, now I’m figuring out how to play fruit basket turnover with three systems, a limited budget (and no cash flow!), and really important personal data and ten year’s worth of lesson plans. It’s been an adrenaline rush, but I think I’m in the homestretch. And I’m still thankful. My list for the week:

  • Clean water
  • A new song written with a new friend (coming soon to the Songwriter’s Notebook!)
  • Dinner with old friends that we don’t see often enough
  • Soccer season for the boys (yes, both of them)
  • Potential mentor
  • Worship at The Table
  • The good state of Tennessee
  • The Fireman and the MacHead

  1. Too bad so much of our lives revolve around pieces of metal, plastic, and silicon . . . we had a recent crash, too, this spring, but were so grateful to retrieve all the data. Will pray you get your systems back up and running.
